Cleaning your makeup brushes regularly is SUPER important. One, it gets rid of all the bacteria and dead skin hidden in the bristles, which can cause breakouts, and two it allows for your makeup to be more evenly applied as well as show up truer to its color! The way I clean my brushes is super fast and easy and makes a huge difference, believe me!
To start, all you need is 3 simple items:
1. A dish or small hand towel
2. Antibacterial dish soap. Make sure its antibacterial!
3. Glass Plate
And of course you cant forget all your dirty brushes!
Step 1:
Squirt a small amount of your dish soap onto the plate. Simple enough.
Step 2:
Wet your makeup brush under warm water. Try not to let the water get on the handle or into the portion holding the bristles.
Step 3:
Take your wet brush and swirl it in the soap on the plate. You'll start to see the makeup in the plate as you continue to swirl it around in the soap. You can repeat this step by adding more soap if your brush is really dirty.
Step 4:
Rinse the soap out of your brush by running it under warm water. I like to either swirl the brush around in my hand to get all the soap off our just run my fingers through it. You want to make sure all the soap is out of the bristles.
It is SUPER important to keep the bristles facing downward. If a lot of water goes into the handle the glue can loosen and the bristles may fall out.
Step 5:
Squeeze all the excess water out of the brush using your fingers and place it on its side on the towel to dry.
Step 6:
Continue to follow these steps with all your brushes and line them up on the towel to dry. The drying time depends on the size of the brushes and if they are synthetic or not. Obviously the smaller the brush the less time it takes to dry, but just run your fingers through the bristles to see when they are fully dry.
